Dermolipectomy (abdomino-plastic)

Dermolipectomy (abdomino-plastic)

What kind of surgery is this?

· A surgical removal of excess skin and fatty tissue from all parts of the body on which the problem cannot be solved in any other way.

· The only way to solve the problem of the loose, sagging skin and stretch marks on the front abdominal wall after giving birth or losing weight.

· If your abdominal muscles are loose, this surgery also tightens them.

· When it comes to legs, i.e. the loose, sagging skin between the legs which cannot be resolved with laser liposuction, dermolipectomy is the solution.

What is preparation for the surgery?

Before scheduling your surgery, you are supposed to do the following analyses and bring your results with you:

1. Blood type

We need a document where your blood type is stated. The surname in the document MUST be the same as the surname in your ID.

2. Laboratory analyses (not older than two weeks):

• Complete blood count - erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets, hemoglobin, hematocrit, iron, sedimentation

• Biochemical parameters - urea, creatinine, glucose, bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, transaminases (AST and ALT), electrolytes (potassium, sodium chlorides)

• Coagulation parameters - APTT, prothrombin time and INR

• Urine sediment

The most common reason for canceling the planned surgery is a bad result of some of these analyses.

For this reason, we insist that you do these laboratory analyses and send them to us before coming to the surgery.

The price of the operation includes preoperative preparation: digital X-ray of the lungs, examination by a radiologist, examination by a cardiologist, EKG and examination by an anesthesiologist, totaling 12700din. These tests are done in our hospital.

What kind of anesthesia is used for the intervention?

General endotracheal anesthesia; in some cases it can be done under local or regional anesthesia.

What shouldn’t I be afraid of after the intervention?

· Swelling above the surgical incision will disappear after some time.

· Seroma (a collection of liquid) which can penetrate through the stitches on the wound and after the cornel removal.

What are potential complications of the surgery?

· An infection and opening of the stitches are potential risks.

· Since the circulation of the lifted part of the skin is significantly reduced, it may cause a necrosis (decay) of the skin above the very stitch.

· These complications require an additional surgical intervention.

After what time can i go home?

After one or two postoperative days; a longer stay is extremely rare.

How should I behave after the surgery?

- You should strictly follow the written instructions you get before leaving the hospital.

- During the first couple of days after the surgery, we recommend getting out of bed from time to time. If dermolipectomy is done in the abdominal area, you should walk around your home, keeping your back slightly bent forward (like an old person). You need to wear a girdle for a month. Stitches are removed two weeks after the surgery as the wound is expected to have healed by then, and you can move more freely, but still careful not to make sudden movements, stretching or lifting.

After what time can I return to normal daily activities?

If you have an office job, you can return to work right after the stitches are removed (sometimes sooner). If your job involves certain dynamics, you can return after three to four weeks.
